Uru Library Manager
Prerequisites
- This is only for use in the offline Uru: Complete Chronicles. This will not work for Myst Online: Uru Live, nor for Until Uru!
- If you are installing a new Uru: Complete Chronicles, be sure you create a player first, and complete the Cleft so that you have a Relto before using UruLibraryManager.
- You will need to install the Microsoft .Net v2.0 runtime libraries to run UruLibraryManager. You can download those here.
Installing UruLibraryManager
Download the latest UruLibrayManager (v1rc5.5) here.
Double-click the EXE
On the Setup Wizard, click Next
On the Choose Install Location page, click the Browse button. In the Browse For Folder dialog, locate the folder named "Myst Uru Complete Chronicles", select it, then click OK. Back on the Choose Install Location page, click Next.'
On the Choose Start Menu Folder, click Install
Once the next wizard page says Installation Complete, click Next.
On the last wizard page, click Finish.
Running UruLibraryManager
From the Start Menu, choose Programs -> UruLibraryManager -> UruLibraryManager
Upon starting ULM, it will download a list of the available ages.
On the left panel is the list of the ages, and on the right are a list of books in which links to the ages can be added
To get the latest versions of an age, select the age in the left panel and click the Download Newest button. This will change the book icon from a closed book to an open book. [For an explanation of these icons, click the Help button.]
To add an age to a book, bring up the tab of the book you want (e.g. Book 1). Click on the age in the left panel, then click the green plus sign. You can also drag ages onto the book tabs.
After exiting ULM, start Uru: Complete Chronicles. In your Relto, look at the bottom shelf. There will be a book for each one you've added to in ULM. Open it, use the link, and enjoy the fan-created ages!
Detailed Walkthrough
Below are instructions for registering your age in Uru : Complete Chronicles using Uru Library Manager, and then linking to your age.
This walkthrough tries not to make any assumptions about the user's abilities by providing as many details as possible, in order to make age creation more accessible to the public.
Registering Your Age in Uru Library Manager
Note: if you need an age to export, click here for instructions.
1. Click the Start menu in your Windows toolbar and choose Run... from the menu
2. In the window that opens, enter C: and click on OK. You should see an explorer window that is at the C: directory. You need to get to the Uru Complete Chronicles directory where the Uru Library Manager executable is.
- Double click on the "Program Files" folder
- Double click on the "Ubi Soft" folder
- Double click on the "Cyan Worlds" folder
- Double click on the "Uru - Complete Chronicles" folder
3. Now, double click UruLibraryManager.exe. The window will appear, and for a while it will say at the bottom, "Downloading recent updates...". When it finishes, the left half will show the ages available for download, and the right half will show the contents of each book on your Relto shelf.
4. If there are any books currently in the Book 1 tab on the right side, get rid of them:
- Click on the book icon, then click on the red X in the middle of the window
5. To get to your newly exported age, click on the "Personal Ages" tab on the left side. You should see a new book icon labeled with your age's name (e.g., "tutorial01").
6. Click on this book icon, then click on the green + in the middle of the window. Your age's book icon should now appear in the Book1 tab on the right side.
7. Close the Uru Library Manager by clicking on the X in the top right corner.
Using The ULM Linking Book In Relto
1. In the same directory as UruLibraryManager.exe, double-click UruExplorer.exe
2. On the dialog that appears, click Play
3. Click through the Ubi Soft movie and the Cyan Worlds movie
4. After it loads, you should appear in your Relto. Walk into the hut, then walk over to the Relto bookshelf.
5. Click on the Relto Bookshelf. This should switch to a "first person" view of the bookshelf.
6. There should now be a blue book on the bottom shelf, all the way to the left. Click on that book.
7. When the book slides out and opens up, you should see the name of your age (e.g., "tutorial01") on the left page, and a nearly black linking panel on the right. Click on the black linking panel.
8. After the book is placed back on the shelf, Uru will load the new age, and you should appear in the middle of it.
