Talk:Main Page
From Alcugs
How should we go about different language versions of a page? I just added a German version for two pages and used parantheses to show the links on the main page.
Alternatives I could think of are:
- Tables:
| English | Deutsch |
| What Do The Various Projects Do? | - |
| How Can I Make Ages? | - |
| How Can I Play Ages? | Wie kann ich in neuen Zeitaltern spielen? |
This quickly uses up the available horizontal space when there are more than a few languages.
- Lists:
- (English flag icon) What Do The Various Projects Do?
- (English flag icon) How Can I Make Ages?
- (English flag icon) How Can I Play Ages?
(German flag icon) Wie kann ich in neuen Zeitaltern spielen?
What do you think about this? -Marck 14:59, 13 Dec 2005 (CET)

I think that the way you are doing it now, works very well.
About making UruAgeManager support more languages: I think that's a very good idea! And having the "localisation" files is probably the way to go. That way, people could also easily translate it for, say, Swedish, Danish, etc.

I'd like to to a Dutch translation of Uru Age Manager! (though I remember vageuly remember Dustin being Dutch... Or am I confusing him with D'lanor?)

Dustin's comment:
I'm Swedish; maybe you *are* thinking of D'Lanor. In any event, a Dutch translation would be most welcome!
Marein's comment:
Ok :D
So when can I start? If you could get me all the text and stuff (if that is possible, anyways) I could start translating right now. I could also open the program and translate everything by looking at it, but that way I might miss things and you would also have to sort it out and all...
Dustin's comment:
I have to go through the entire program and move all of the strings to a file. Then, you will be able to make a copy, and change all the English strings to Dutch strings. It will take some time to do, but I'll definately be doing it!
Marein's comment:
OK! :D Tell me when you're done :) (just post something here, or on a forum or something)
Dark Falkon's comment:
I've just had an idea. I could put a link in every page to it's translated version (and vice versa) to help new people who don't know how works the wiki (they don't have to know that there's a link to the translated version in the main page)
here is an example
- Sounds good to me :)
