Making Ages will require time and patience. You will need to learn Blender, and a lot of trial-and-error.

This is an overview of Making an Age, more details on each one are available in the Wiki.

  1. Follow these instructions for downloading and installing Blender and the PRP Blender Plugin. This modeling environment is what you will use to create your age, and the plugin will export your age to the Uru format.
  2. Learn Blender. I recommend From Noob to Pro
  3. When starting a new Age, pick a filename and reserve a "sequence prefix" for your age. This is a unique number that identifies your age to Uru. Go to the Sequence Prefix list, log in, and edit the table. Look for the first unused number beyond 100, then add your entry. Never change either one of them, as it may cause Uru to crash.
  4. Design the Age, making sure to save frequently, and export frequently (using "all as full age"), to make sure that there are no problems.
  5. There is tons of information available in this Wiki. Follow the tutorials to learn how to use the plugin. There are sample .blend files for ages that you can download and export, to get going quickly. The tutorials also refer to other tools you can use to aid your age development.
  6. Export the Age, using "generate release" (Note: this gives an invalid export and some versions of PrpBlenderPlugin, but should be fixed starting nov.9).
  7. You will need to use the Uru Library Manager to install your exported age; follow these instructions.
  8. Before you share your age with others, read the notes on sharing ages.
